Our space is the result of a decade’s worth of ideas from two very different (and very active) minds, and two deeply aligned hearts. We are a couple whose creative practices have slowly shifted from the structured world of advertising and branding to a more artistic, intuitive, and meaningful way of working. Over the years, the way we create has transformed — shaped by our individual journeys of self-discovery and our response to the ever-changing world around us. Lately, we’ve been drawn to a life that feels more local, more hands-on, and more creative in every sense of the word — and as offline as possible.
Adriana Takeuchi Libotte

Adriana is a textile artist and creative entrepreneur living and working in Berlin. Originally from São Paulo, Brazil, her journey has been mainly shaped by her multicultural experiences and deep curiosity. She graduated in Fashion Business, gaining a comprehensive understanding of textiles, focusing on sustainable practices and the reuse of textile waste. As a neurodivergent spirit and autodidact, Adriana's interests extend beyond textiles, embracing astrology, human design, and quantum physics. The way she embraces this human experience is shaped by love – love for her family, for the process, for introspection, and for holistic perspectives on creating a life that influences the world around us.

mottainein is a fusion of cultures and ideas. The name combines the Japanese concept of "mottainai", which reminds us not to waste what holds value, with the German “nein,” reflecting her rejection of mass production and waste. Adriana believes in attention, not guilt — focusing on the awareness of what surrounds us. Every piece of fabric is an opportunity to create something unique, driven by imagination, simplicity, and the joy of creation. It’s about transforming materials with love, respect, and a playful spirit.

I am moved by the every day exercise of trying, failing, sometimes succeeding, and, most importantly, creating with my own hands.
My inspiration comes from our children — their curiosity, freedom to explore, and unique needs remind me that we were all born extraordinary.

Alexander Libotte

Creative work is an ever-evolving journey, rooted in the process of living and the discovery of our world. Exploration of such is mostly at the heart of what Alex does. He believes in the importance of playful moments, tapping into the flow that comes from allowing space for curiosity and spontaneity. This open, often experimental approach invites the unexpected and helps Alex move beyond personal boundaries, leading to visual ideas that aren’t just innovative to him but also deeply personal and somewhat reflective of the human experience. It’s in the moments of free play where creativity unfolds and transforms into something tangible.

Recurring themes in Alex’s artistic work often stem from personal experiences, interests, and reflections. Alex’s wife Adriana and his twin boys for example frequently inspire or appear in his images as they serve as a constant reminder of Alex’s own childhood or the awe of life and love. Life in its many expressions, space and time, technology as well as creativity are themes which resonate deeply in his explorations and often filter into the work, reflecting a curiosity about the possibilities and mysteries the world holds.

Alex followed love to Brasil and he lived in São Paulo for about six years. This time was instrumental in shaping Alex’s artistic approach, not just in terms of creative process but in how he perceives art and life itself. This period set the ground for his transition from a background in communication design into a more expansive world of photography and art.

Influences from Surrealism, Magical Realism, and the Bauhaus movement have been key in informing the playful and exploratory nature of Alex’s practice, where the blurring of boundaries between mediums and disciplines feels natural. Alex embraces analogue and digital techniques alike, whether working with a point-and-shoot camera or in medium format, black and white or color. He’s always open to new materials and methods that best serve the work.
